Qatar’s objective primarily lies in sustaining its position as a global event destination, and even more so for sporting events after the success of the world cup. The latest case in point is diving into the organisation of the 2030 Asian Games, for which the Emir has recently issued a directive to the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, effectively handing it the mandate to start preparations. Before any questions on the relevance of such a committee (after the WC) surface, the leadership moved swiftly to delegate a new project.
